Winged Eagle (1988–1998)
9 belts catalogued · 1988–1998
The WWF Winged Eagle championship belt debuted on February 5, 1988, during a televised event called The Main Event, when Hulk Hogan introduced it as the new WWF World Heavyweight Championship, and it served as the promotion's top title for a full decade until March 1998. Designed by belt maker Reggie Parks, the piece is defined by a gold-plated central plate bearing an eagle with dramatically outstretched wings atop a globe, flanked by four side plates carrying the block WWF logo, all mounted on a black leather strap — making it the company's first black-strap, gold-plated championship design.
