The Million Dollar Championship was introduced on February 15, 1989, by "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase as a self-proclaimed, WWF-unsanctioned title after his repeated failures to win or purchase the WWF Championship, most notably losing the WrestleMania IV tournament final to Randy Savage.
